Make Retirement Work...! BLOG

CoGenerate

During our research early in this project, Make Retirement…Work!, we came across a group called Encore.org, founded 25 years ago by Marc Freedman.  Its purpose was to change cultural expectations for those 50 and older and to expand the contributions of older people. In 2022 it changed its name to CoGenerate now focusing on developing a world where older and younger people join forces to solve problems, bridge divides and co-generate the future. The organization provides insight and methodology as to how you can engage with the younger generation to make this world a better place. I would encourage you to check it out.

We have talked a number of times about the importance of strengthening your old relationships and developing new ones to live longer and healthier.  Co-Generate has a webinar on just that subject on July 10th, with Kasley Killam discussing her new book, The Art and Science of Connection: Why Social Health Is the Missing Key to Living Longer, Healthier, and Happier. She is a graduate of the Harvard School of Public Health and founder of Social Health Labs. In this free, 30-minute webinar, they will discuss how to live a more connected, intergenerational and healthy life and how to help create a socially healthy society, too. A recording will also be available on CoGenerates website.

have attended a few of these webinars in the past and they speak to many of the things we discuss in our book, Make Retirement…Work!  It may give you ideas on how you can connect with the younger generation and provide you with your Ikigai!
