Another Ikigai Opportunity
As we say in our book one of the benefits of retirement is time... I can attest to that, having just returned with my wife from a 3 week trip in Europe on a Viking river cruise with an extended trip to Amsterdam. That would have been impossible during our working life.
At each stop along the way a tour guide shared the wonders and history of their city. In Passau Germany, our guide took us on a hike to a Monastery and Castle. Five miles up one hill and down, then straight up another to the Castle. He was very interesting and very knowledgeable. He is a retired engineer who always had an interest in history and appears to have found his ikigai. As an independent contractor he has flexible work hours, doing what he loves. In other cities we encountered other tour guides enjoying the same experience.
If this is of interest, you may want to check out these types of opportunities in your area.
